Water Distribution PRV Rehabilitation and Replacement

This project includes distribution system hydraulic modeling and vault/valve inspections for nine (9) existing pressure reducing valves (PRVs) within the City of Westminster’s multi-zone distribution system. The PRVs ranged in size from 4” to 12” and were located in vaults and manholes within City right-of-ways. JVA inspected each vault under confined space entry procedures and documented existing equipment and condition in field reports.

JVA teamed with IDModeling to perform hydraulic modeling, resulting in the recommendation to eliminate four pressure zones and nine PRVs. Two PRVs were demoed and relocated in the right-of-way creating easier maintenance access. The two new vaults were equipped with safety features, power, instrumentation, and communication to allow for remote monitoring.
