Project Description

JVA worked with Jefferson County Public School District on the design and construction of a new collection system and state of the art wastewater treatment facility at Mt. Evans Outdoor Lab School. The new treatment facility was design for nutrient reduction and is capable of meeting <1MG/L total phosphorus and <10MG/L total nitrogen limits at end of pipe. The September 2013 floods heavily impacted the collection system and lagoon wastewater treatment facility resulting in an evacuation of the campus. Grants totaling over one million dollars were secured from Federal and State agencies to help fund this flood recovery project. This decentralized treatment facility was designed to meet strict effluent limits while also experiencing significant seasonal flow variations.
